One to Buy: Midnight Purple III 2001 Nissan R34 Skyline GT-R Nismo Clubman Race Spec
/ Ben Tyer
If any of Nissan’s off-the-shelf R34-based Skyline GT-Rs fail to get a customer’s juices going, they can always turn to Nismo who continue to build an array of specially tuned creations from their renowned Omori factory.
Of the myriad Nismo-tuned R34 GT-Rs offered, arguably the most radical remains the Clubman Race Spec which incorporates a host of GT500-inspired features that enhance every aspect of the original. Should a client wish to tick every conceivable option, in excess of $300,000 is needed plus a suitable R34 donor.
This sum includes a complete strip down and chassis refresh / reinforcement, uprated suspension, brakes and wheels, a comprehensively modified R2 engine, all manner of (mostly carbonfibre) exterior additions and a load of specific interior equipment too.
Although customers with the even deepest pockets can’t skip the circa 2.5 year wait for a completed Clubman Race Spec R34, a handful of cars have become available on the secondary market such as this example currently on offer at the F1rst Motors showroom in Al Quoz, Dubai.
Finished in the iconic R34 shade Midnight Purple III, it features a 450bhp R2 version of the legendary RB26DETT twin turbocharged straight six and looks fabulous with the much sought after Z-tune body kit and LM GT4 wheels.
Having been converted from a very low mileage original R34 GT-R, the car is presented in as-new condition throughout.
