One to Buy: ex-JR Motorsports / Sumo Power 2010 Nissan R35 GT-R Nismo GT1

Having only fleetingly raced previous iterations of the GT-R outside of Japan, Nissan decided to embark upon a more international programme with their latest R35.

The intention was to win the inaugural FIA GT1 World Championship of 2010. To this end, Nismo were commissioned to create a GT1 version of the R35 GT-R which would be supplied to a small number of hand-picked satellite teams.

One of these works-assisted outfits was the British Sumo Power / JR Motorsports outfit which in 2010 most notably won round two, the Silverstone Tourist Trophy, en route to a sixth place finish in the Team’s Championship.

A dramatic uptick in form during the 2011 campaign saw JR Motorsports’ Michael Krumm and Lucas Luhr crowned Driver’s champions. That year, JR Motorsports also finished second in the Team’s standings.

Currently on offer at the Art & Revs showroom in Howald, Luxembourg, is one of the five cars built by Nismo for the GT1 World Championship campaign.

Chassis 102 was the GT-R which took that famous win at Silverstone in 2010 driven by Jamie Campbell-Walter and Warren Hughes.

It is offered in highly original condition with a huge spares package and has completed just two hours of running since it left JR Motorsports.

Opportunities to acquire genuine Nismo-built GT racing cars are very few and far between; with its race winning history at World Championship level, this would make an ideal centrepoint to any collection of Japanese motor cars or simply a highly competitive entry to the historic Endurance Racing Legends or Masters Endurance Series.
