One to Buy: 1975 Porsche 911 3.0 Carrera RSR Kremer Spezial
/ Ben Tyer
By the late 1960s, Erwin and Manfred Kremer’s eponymous Cologne-based racing team was arguably the number one privateer Porsche outfit anywhere in the world.
Established in 1962, Kremer Racing quickly gained a reputation for their superbly prepared Porsches. The firm also began to create their own update programme which gave Kremer-run cars an edge on the rest of the field.
For the 1975 season, Porsche had planned to introduce the Group 5 935 and Group 4 934, both of which were based on the turbocharged 930. However, the two new cars were ultimately delayed which resulted in the existing 911 3.0 Carrera RSR having a second season at the top level of competition following its 1974 debut campaign.
Kremer ran a trio of 3.0 Carrera RSRs during the 1975 season, one of which – chassis 005-0004 – is currently on offer at the Canepa showroom in Scotts Valley, California.
005-0004 was one of four RSRs built up from bare bodyshells by Porsche approved customer teams for 1975. Kremer ran it in the colours of Wally Jeans for Cees Sievertsen who primarily contested the domestic Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft (DRM).
Sievertsem was a consistent top ten finisher in the high profile 1975 DRM series. His best results were a brace of fourths at Hockenheim and the Nurburgring while he also picked up a couple of wins in non-championship GT races.
Today, chassis 005-0004 is offered in superb restored condition and comes complete with its original ONS Wagenpass.
