One to Buy: 6000-mile Baltic Blue Metallic 1991 Porsche 944 Turbo

During the peak of its popularity in the mid 1980s, the 944 Turbo was selling in almost as many numbers as the 911 Carrera - well over 10,000 a year. However, by the early 1990s, the 944 was coming to the end of its life, economic conditions had turned gloomy and Porsche was suffering an image problem. Now, barely a 1000 944 Turbos were being built per year.
Of the 787 944 Turbo Coupes made during the model’s final twelve months in production (the 1991 model year from August 1990 to July ‘91), probably only around 100 were UK right-hand drive variants. Of those, this car is likely the best.
Currently residing with The Hairpin Company in Compton Bassett, Wiltshire, this 1991 car was ordered by a Midlands-based Doctor through Evans Halshaw in Warwick. Intended for high days and holidays, the 944 was configured in optional Baltic Blue Metallic paint with full Linen leather upholstery and a substantial number of options to include air conditioning, a sunroof and top-of-the-range Blaupunkt audio system with separate graphic equaliser.
The first owner used the car minimally for its first few years, always sending it to the supplying dealer for maintenance as recorded in the original service book. He then put the 944 away in his garage where it remained until 2023 when sold to a regular Hairpin client. Since then, it has remained in storage. Today the total mileage is a little over 6000 miles.
According to The Hairpin Company: “Upon inspection, it is clear the car is completely original in all respects with no discernible wear or damage. All the factory stickers are present and correct, and the interior looks unused with no leather damage or wear. It was fully inspected by Northway Porsche last year, a major service was completed, all tyres replaced and any faults found were rectified.”
