One to Buy: Violet Blue Metallic ex- Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah 1996 Porsche 911 3.6 Turbo (993)

With its bulging Coke-bottle shape, slanted headlights and massive tea tray rear spoiler, the 993-type 911 Turbo became an icon of late 90s automotive design. Produced between 1995 and ‘98, this was the first all-wheel drive 911 Turbo. With 408bhp in standard tune, a 0-62mph time of 4.5 seconds and 184mph top speed, it was also the fastest.
In total, just under 6000 were produced, but no others were configured quite like this 1996 example which will be going under the hammer at The Quail with Broad Arrow Auctions on August 13th.
A Gulf market car completed in December 1995, chassis WP0ZZZ99ZTS371675 was delivered new to Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah who resided at Shuwaikh Palace in Kuwait. Wanting a highly personalised 911 Turbo, Sheikh Nasser (who served as Kuwait’s Prime Minister between 2006 and 2011) paid for an array of rarely seen Porsche’s Exclusive upgrades.
The body and wheel centres were ordered in handsome Paint to Sample Violet Blue Metallic. Inside, Sheikh Nasser selected Leather to Sample in extended Florence Grey with Light Rootwood inlays for the dash, steering wheel, doors, handbrake lever and gear knob (the latter of which was engraved “WK”. Faces and bezels for the five gauges were also painted Florence Grey.
Other optional extras included beyond the usual Gulf specification included oval tailpipe tips, a sunroof and Digital Sound Package with Remote 6-disc CD shuttle.
According to Broad Arrow Auctions: “Sheikh Nasser evidently enjoyed the car, with 22,124 kilometers recorded during a service visit in 2002. By 2006 the mileage had increased to just 26,010 km and by the time it left Kuwait via a public sale in Gstaad in 2022 it had only registered an additional 141km.”
“Acquired under current ownership in July 2022, the consignor delivered the car to RUF Automobile Pfaffenhausen in October, where it received a thorough recommissioning over the next 12 months at a cost of over €35.000. The comprehensive 13-page invoice, on file and available for review, covers engine and transmission disassembly and reassembly, new turbochargers, complete fluid flushes and replacements, wheel repaint, new Michelin N-spec tires, and more, with RUF leaving no stone unturned to return this special 911 Turbo to the day it was delivered to its first owner.”
“In January 2024, this special Exclusive Turbo was imported to the United States and, at the time of cataloguing, shows just 32,245km.”
