One to Buy: 176 mile Ultra Violet 2024 Ruf CTR Anniversary 'Mary Stuart'

During 1973, the Martini-backed Porsche works team ran 911 Carrera RSRs that became ever more extreme as they were developed away from production-based Group 4 trim towards out-and-out Prototypes.

At the fourth World Championship contest of the year, the Monza 1000km, in addition to un-homologated engines and uprated suspension, Porsche ran with additional aluminium spoiler panels riveted in place on either side of the original Ducktail. Over the next few months, these elaborate add-ons were gradually refined and came to be known as Mary Stuart spoilers after the flamboyant lace collars popularised by Mary, Queen of Scots, during the late 16th century.

As an homage to those iconic early 1970s racing Porsches, one of which famously won the ‘73 Targa Florio outright, Ruf now offers a Mary Stuart spoiler option for its modern day interpretation of the SCR which has been produced from scratch since 2018.

On August 14th, one of only around half a dozen SCRs to have been completed thus far in Mary Stuart trim will be going under the hammer during Broad Arrow Auctions’ sale at The Quail: chassis W09CB0A0XRPR06011.

Configured in Paint to Sample Ultra Violet with contrasting matt Titanium Grey for the wheels, exterior RUF logos, front spoilers and exhaust tips, chassis ‘6011’ was also ordered with quick-lock hood pins for the front lid, an uprated cross-pipe exhaust system and factory applied full-body paint protection film.

Inside, the car is trimmed in black and grey Alcantara with contrasting Ultra Violet used for the leather cushion frames, steering wheel marker and stitching. Other interior equipment includes RUF-branded lightweight carbon-shell Recaro bucket seats with purple-tinted carbon weave, Sabelt harnesses, embroidered RUF logos on the steering wheel and headrests, an embroidered Mary Stuart emblem on the rear parcel shelf, lightweight door panels in exposed carbonfibre, a matching carbonfibre dashboard cover set, interior brightwork painted matt Titanium Grey and a crossbar for the six-point harnesses.

Chassis 06011 was the second SCR exported to the United States. It arrived during May 2024 and served as the official SCR demonstrator for RUF North America headquartered at The Concours Club in Miami. Today, the car is presented in exceptional condition with just 176 miles showing at the time of cataloguing.
