One to Buy: 15,500 mile 2010 RUF CTR3 Club Sport
/ Ben Tyer
Despite having been around during the super tuner era of spectacular body kits and elaborate electronics, Alois Ruf chose a different path for his company that eschewed flashiness in favour of optimal performance.
As a consequence, RUF-tuned Porsches have come to be regarded in a completely different league to most of their contemporaries.
Although the German authorities had classed RUF as a manufacturer since 1982, it wasn’t until 2007 that the famous Pfaffenhausen company actually built a stand-alone vehicle in its own right.
That car was the CTR3 which incorporated a brand new aluminium monocoque fused with a tubular rear subframe and the front end of a Porsche 997. In the engine bay was an uprated Flat 6 from a 997 GT2 hooked up to six-speed sequential transmission.
In 2012, RUF launched an even more powerful Club Sport variant and gave the 29 buyers who had already purchased a CTR3 the opportunity to have their vehicle uprated to this latest specification.
One of those cars is chassis 008 which is currently on offer with Art & Revs in Howald, Luxembourg.
Finished in the attractive colour scheme of black with a two-tone black leather and grey quilted alcantara interior, chassis 008 has resided in the hands of three collectors since completion in 2010.
It was uprated to Club Sport specification in 2013 which included an array of enhancements to include a more powerful engine, a titanium exhaust system, improved cooling solutions and three-way adjustable Ohlins dampers.
Today, this exceptionally scarce right-hand drive machine has covered just 15,000 miles. It is offered in excellent condition and represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of RUF’s modern era masterpieces.
