One to Buy: 15,000km Viola 1997 Lamborghini Diablo SV
/ Ben Tyer
Even though the early-to-mid 1990s was not a great time to be selling ultra expensive motor cars of any kind, Lamborghini managed to shift all 150 examples of the souped-up Diablo SE30.
In light of the SE30’s commercial success, Lamborghini reasoned that, in a still sluggish market, a similarly driver-focused Diablo, albeit with a more basic nature to enable a lower selling price, should become a permanent fixture in the firm’s model line up.
Accordingly, the resultant Diablo SV was launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1995 and unsurprisingly killed off demand for the regular rear-drive Diablo in the process.
Less than 200 examples of the Diablo SV were produced prior to the introduction of an updated iteration for the 1999 model year, a super example of which is currently on offer at the Curated showroom in Miami.
Painted Lamborghini’s spectacular 30th anniversary shade of Viola, chassis VLA12835 was further configured with charcoal alcantara upholstery, contrast orange stitching, black-centred five spoke OZ Racing alloy wheels, black SV decals and a rear spoiler.
Originally delivered to one Seiku Chirollo in Germany, VLA12835 was subsequently exported to Japan. It has today covered a little under 15,000km and is offered with a fully documented history from new.
