VIN: the ex-Shah of Iran Lamborghini Countach LP400 chassis 1120054
History of chassis 1120054
Chassis 1120054 was a left-hand drive Countach LP400 signed off on February 14th 1975 and dispatched to the SEA Auto dealership in Rome.
The handsome Tahiti Blue over Naturale Countach was subsequently flown out to Tehran for an Iranian customer, most likely the Shah himself (Mohammad Reza Pahlavi) but possibly a family member or high ranking government official.
The Shah was known to be a major collector and a big Lamborghini fan; he had previously taken delivery of an Espada and four Miuras (a P400, an S, an SV and one of the four SV/Js produced). Two Countach LP400s also made it into the royal collection and considering the tiny mileage accumulated by 1120054 (it was showing less than 3000km several decades later), it seems highly likely this car was also a personal commission from the Shah.
In later years chassis 1120054 was damaged in a minor garage fire believed to have occurred sometime after the 1979 revolution that saw radical Islamic cleric Ruhollah Khomeini assume control.
1120054 has since been exported to the USA and restored.
