One to Buy: #13 of 50 built 2003 Lamborghini Murcielago 40th Anniversary

Having celebrated its 25th and 30th anniversaries with special editions of the Countach and Diablo respectively, Automobili Lamborghini’s 40th year as a car maker was marked in a similar fashion, this time with a limited run special based on the Murcielago.

Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2003 (precisely two years after the Murcielago had made its world debut), the 40th Anniversary package was presented at the same time as Lamborghini’s expensive new F1-style E-Gear automated-manual paddle shift transmission.

All 50 Murcielagos built to 40th Anniversary trim were completed to an identical specification that was unique to these celebration models.

Externally, each car was finished in special pearl effect Verde Artemis with grey anthracite wheels, silver brake calipers and exposed carbonfibre sail panels with matching upper door mouldings.

Inside, the seat bolsters were asymmetrically trimmed: Grigio Syrus perforated leather for the driver while the passenger seat had smooth leather.

The steering wheel came with an embossed logo and each car had a numbered plaque inside the rear three quarter window. 40th Anniversary floor mats, a personalised certificate and a signed carbon fibre suitcase for the luggage compartment were also included.

Chassis #0846 is number 13 of the 50 limited edition 40th Anniversary cars produced and currently shows just 13,500 original miles.
