One to Buy: manual Rosso Vik 2003 Lamborghini Murcielago

From the late 1970s until the late 1990s, traditional Italian Rosso paint accounted for around half the Lamborghinis that left Sant’Agata. However, by the early 2000s, reds had dropped right off the radar making cars equipped as such from the Murcielago / Gallardo era a rare delight.

Currently on offer at the Curated showroom in Miami is just such an example: chassis ZA9BC10C53LA12513.

Configured in unusual Rosso Vik with Nero upholstery, ‘3LA12513’ was delivered new to Canada during 2003. As a Canadian-market example, it featured unique lighting and compliance details.

The car was ordered with a manual gearbox, electronic front axle lift and contrast stitching.

As the first new Lamborghini released under Volkswagen Audi Group ownership, the Murcielago mixed typical Italian flair with top level German attention to detail. Launched in September 2001, it marked the dawn of a new era for Automobili Lamborghini that has seen the firm go from strength-to-strength ever since.

Now, the Murcielago’s Luc Donckerwolke-designed bodywork looks great in practically any colour scheme, but this Rosso Vik example really stands apart from the more familiar yellows, oranges, blacks and greens.

Chassis ‘3LA12513’ is being sold with a fully documented history and little under 16,000km on the odometer.
