One to Buy: ex-Jay Kay 1 of 1 Signal Green 2014 Ferrari LaFerrari

The fifth instalment from Ferrari’s occasional line of mid-engined limited run flagships was the LaFerrari which broke cover at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2013. Most notably, the LaFerrari combined a 6.3-litre normally aspirated V12 with an electric motor mounted at the back of the seven-speed dual clutch transmission to create a 950bhp hybrid powertrain.

In total, 499 copies of the fixed head LaFerrari Coupe were built between 2013 and 2016 plus an additional 210 completed to open top Aperta trim between 2016 and 2018.

Probably the most famous LaFerrari to have emerged from Maranello was this car, chassis ZFF76ZHB000203504, which most readers will recognise as the example purchased by Jamiroquai frontman, Jay Kay.

Already the owner of a black Enzo with green upholstery (chassis 132051), Jay Kay ordered chassis ‘203504’ from the Dick Lovett Ferrari main agent based in Swindon, England. Uniquely, the car was configured in out-of-range Signal Green with a visible carbonfibre roof plus a generous application of exposed carbonfibre elsewhere. The brake calipers were finished in Giallo Modena and the five-spoke alloy wheels were ordered from Ferrari’s Tailor Made list of ultra-exclusive options.

Inside, Jay Kay went for black and green leather upholstery with green stitching. An aluminium steering wheel insert was supplied that bore an etched Jamiroquai logo. A set fitted luggage in matching green leather was also ordered along with Large-sized driver and passenger seats, front and rear suspension lift and a track camera recording system.

Having taken delivery on June 24th 2014, Jay Kay subsequently ran chassis ‘203504’ at the Goodwood Festival of Speed which took place from June 26th through 29th.

In 2017, the car was exhibited at the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena as part of the ‘Driving with the Stars’ showcase where it was shown alongside other Prancing Horse legends owned by famous individuals.

By the time Jay Kay parted with his LaFerrari in April 2019, it had accumulated just over 3000km. During this time, maintenance was carried out by Dick Lovett, Maranello Sales, Joe Macari, and HR Owen.

The Ferrari stayed in the UK with its next owner, returning to Maranello Sales and Jardine Colchester for servicing, before heading to the European mainland in 2023.

Chassis ‘203504’ is believed to have since changed hands once more, with subsequent servicing being undertaken by LUEG Sportivo (the Ferrari main dealer for Dusseldorf), Scuderia Gohm of Vosendorf, Austria, and Emil Frey Sportivo of Munich. At the time of cataloguing, the odometer read a little over 12,000km.
