One to Buy: 7700 mile 1 of 1 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S (993)

Having been the last iteration of the air cooled 911 before the big bodyshelled 996 arrived, the 993 is regarded by many enthusiasts as the ultimate incarnation of Porsche’s Flat 6-engined sports car.

For those customers that did not want a 993 in hardcore RS trim or with the added complexity of twin turbochargers, arguably the most sought after specification was a rear-drive Carrera S or all-wheel drive Carrera 4S.

These S-badged variants combined the macho wide-bodied appearance of a wing-less Turbo along with its uprated brakes and bigger wheels / tyres. Offered between late 1995 and mid 1997 / ‘98 respectively, the Carrera S and Carrera 4S were the perfect representation of Porsche’s do-it-all 911 with a degree of greater exclusivity thrown in.

Currently on offer at the Canepa showroom in Scotts Valley, California, is arguably one of the finest and most unusually configured examples of the 993 Carrera 4S to exist: chassis ‘314293’.

A desirable European specification example with a little over 7700 miles from new, the car was specified with rarely seen Turquoise Pearl paint, matching wheel centres and Chestnut Brown upholstery.

Considering it also came with no sunroof (almost unheard of in certain markets), it seems highly likely that chassis ‘314293’ is a one-of-one example which, combined with its ultra low mileage, would make it a superb addition to practically any collection of Porsche motor cars.
