One to Buy: 1 of 8 in Racing Yellow 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder
/ Ben Tyer
Unlike a good portion of super high end sports cars from the modern era which look as though they have been styled by a child, Porsche’s 918 Spyder combined F1-rivalling performance with a rarely seen dose of elegance.
As a consequence of its perfect proportions, discrete aero and an array of well considered details, the 918 Spyder looked great in practically any colour scheme. By contrast, many of its contemporaries were best configured in very specific shades to conceal their epic ugliness.
All things considered, we think the 918 Spyder ranks as easily Porsche’s finest top flight supercar, eclipsing both the 959 and Carrera GT when it comes to aesthetic appeal.
As a consequence of the booming market for limited edition flagships from the world’s most prestigious brands, many 918 Spyders have covered little more than delivery mileage since production stopped in June 2015.
However, currently on offer at the Grand Prix Classics showroom in La Jolla, California, is an example that its one and only custodian has used as intended: chassis WP0CA2A16FS800439.
A 2015 machine showing a little over 20,000 miles on the odometer, chassis ‘800439’ is one of just eight 918 Spyders originally configured in the handsome shade of Racing Yellow. Inside, the consigning owner went for Mocca Brown leather with contrast Orange piping, a combination that almost certainly ensures this is a ‘one-of-one’ specification.
Chassis ‘800439’ is being offered with service records from new, the original window sticker and book pack, both keys, charging cord, wall-mounted charging box, Porsche universal charging manual, tool kit and indoor cover.
