One to Buy: Unique 2015 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse Transformers Art Car
/ Ben Tyer
How much could one man love the Transformers?
This much: an extraordinary Art Car commissioned from Bugatti as an homage to the kid’s TV show and movie franchise.
Based on a Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse, which was the world’s fastest, most powerful and most expensive open top sports car of its time, the fore section of chassis ‘079’s all-carbonfibre exterior was given a light blue base and dark blue fractured mosaic overlay complete with Transformers logo.
Inside, the two-tone blue and black cockpit was adorned by an aluminium Transformers logo mounted between the seat backs.
Among the last of the 92 Grand Sport Vitesse Veyrons to roll off the production line, chassis ‘079’ underwent 800km of testing at Bugatti’s Molsheim test facility prior to final assembly. The car was delivered to its Southern California owner in July 2015.
‘079’s public debut came at the McCall's Motorworks Revival during Monterey car week in August 2015. The one-off machine was then displayed at the San Francisco Motor Show in November, following which it was sold to a European collector.
It’s now going under the hammer at Broad Arrow Auctions’ Zoute Concours d’Elegance sale in Belgium on October 10th with a little over 6000km on the odometer and a most recent service back in May.
