One to Buy: 220 mile 1995 Dodge Viper RT/10 Roadster
/ Ben Tyer
Following Chrysler Group’s acquisition of Automoboli Lamborghini in 1987, the American firm elected to commission a spectacular high performance model for its Dodge subsidiary: the Viper RT/10 Roadster.
At the heart of the all-new two-seater was a partially Lamborghini-developed all-alloy eight-litre V10 that pumped out a formidable 400bhp. The lightweight tubular steel chassis was equipped with double wishbone suspension all round and draped in dramatic fibreglass composite bodywork.
As expected, the Viper took the American high performance game well beyond the capability of Chevrolet’s contemporary Corvette.
With it having been clear from the outset that the Viper would go down as one of the most highly coveted sports cars of its era, a few were purchased to be preserved as un-driven collector pieces, but over the years most of these have come out of the woodwork and taken to the road.
However, currently on offer at The Barn, Miami, is a remarkable one owner machine from 1995 with just 220 miles on the odometer.
Delivered in 1995, chassis 1B3BR65E2SV200732 was ordered by a Michigan-based Chrysler employee with whom it has resided ever since. Configured in one of the best colours for these cars, Viper Bright Yellow, chassis ‘200732’ was also fitted with optional air-conditioning. It comes with the original window sticker, handbooks, keys, demonstration video, clip-in windows, clip-in top and tonneau.
