One to Buy: Unique 2022 Bugatti Chiron Profilee
/ Ben Tyer
Of all the myriad special edition Chirons manufactured between 2018 and 2022, among the most interesting was the Profilee which Bugatti conceived as a more refined version of the radical Pur Sport.
Cosmetically, the Profilee incorporated many of the Pur Sport’s aerodynamic refinements, but did without the massive twin pylon rear wing. In its place, Bugatti developed a more discrete fully integrated tunnel spoiler that gave the Profilee a more elegant appearance.
In many respects, the Profilee was to be Bugatti’s equivalent to a Porsche 911 GT3 Touring; a hardcore performance car wrapped in a more stylish body than the base model.
Other Profilee special equipment included unique woven leather cockpit inserts, new steering and suspension settings, re-mapped engine management software (with a 200rpm higher redline) and shorter transmission ratios.
The result was reputedly the fastest accelerating Chiron ever built: 0-100kmh took 2.3 seconds, 0-200kmh 5.5 seconds and 0-300kmg in 12.4 seconds. The top speed was electronically limited to 380kmh.
Unfortunately, as a result of stronger than anticipated demand, Chiron production sold out before the Profilee was ready for market. As a consequence, only one example was ever produced.
That car, chassis 795004, will be going under the hammer on February 1st during the RM Sotheby’s sale at Les Salles du Carrousel in Paris.
Consigned by Bugatti themselves, this uniquely appointed Chiron has covered under 400km from new. The exterior is finished in the one-off colour scheme of Argent Atlantique with Bleu Royal Carbon while the cockpit is two-tone Gris Rafale and Deep Blue.
Estimated to realise between €4.2m and €5.5m (which will be subject to VAT), this one-of-one Chiron will be taken to Bugatti’s factory in Molsheim following the sale and then delivered free of charge if within the EU.
