History of chassis 39003

Chassis 39003 was one of four SS versions of the Bugatti EB110 delivered to the Brunei Royal Family.

When Bugatti announced the SS, the Brunei Royals requested they take take delivery of the first three examples: 39001, 39002 and 39003. A fourth example was subsequently ordered with a highly customised multi-coloured exterior and interior (chassis 39013).

As for chassis 39003, this car was configured in Giallo Bugatti with a Nero Inchios interior and left-hand drive. It was manufactured in late 1993 and it delivered in early 1994.

Upon arrival in Brunei, 39003 was registered KF 6780.

By the mid 1990s, the Brunei Royal Family collection totalled around 7000 vehicles, several hundred of which were high end supercars and often with highly individual specifications.

The Brunei royals really began to accumulate vast quantities of machinery after the Sultan’s younger brother, Prince Jefri, became the country’s Minister of Finance in late 1986. Vast oil and natural gas reserves meant the royals were able to spend nearly £200m on high end cars every single year for nearly two decades.

Chassis 39003 remains in Brunei to this day.
