One to Buy: 840 mile 1 of 30 2022 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+

When Volkwagen Audi Group boss Ferdinand Piech concluded the acquisition of Bugatti Automobiles in 1998, his plan was to revive the brand as builder of the fastest, most expensive road cars imaginable.

At the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016, Bugatti debuted its second generation offering and Veyron replacement: the Chiron.

During an eight-year production run just 500 Chirons were built, but the number of different variants created by Bugatti got into double figures.

Of these, arguably top of the pile was the epic Chiron Super Sport 300+ which combined the same range-topping engine found in the EB110-style Centodieci with a long ratio gearbox and a thoroughly revised low drag long tail body.

In August 2019, Bugatti ran a Chiron Super Sport 300+ around the Ehra-Lessien test track in Germany at 304.7mph. The next month, a limited run of 30 copies was announced at a price of €3.5m before local taxes. Each car came in Bugatti’s trademark speed record livery of exposed carbonfibre with orange accents and a host of other special features.

Set to go under the hammer on October 3rd at Bonhams’ Audrain Concours d’Elegance sale in Newport, Rhode Island, is one of the eight Super Sport 300+s delivered new to the United States.

Supplied by Bugatti Beverly Hills in 2022 and serviced annually by them ever since, chassis 795006 is a one owner car that, at the time of cataloguing, was showing just 840 miles.
