One to Buy: scruffball 1958 Porsche 356 A 1600 Super Coupe

The liberation that comes from driving a well-sorted but cosmetically scruffy classic car is difficult to underestimate. Once freed from the worry that driving a car can compromise its clinical perfection, a world of possibilities opens up for day-to-day use and occasional adventures.
Even now, few cars lend themselves to such applications better than an old Porsche. The German firm’s reputation for outstanding build quality, robust engineering and all-round practicality was well deserved while a back catalogue filled with iconic design adds unmatched aesthetic appeal.
So, with all that in mind, check out this gorgeous little Porsche 356 A Coupe from 1958 – a true survivor that’s just ripe for a bundle of fun.
According to the Porsche Kardex supplied, chassis 102818, which is currently on offer at the European Collectibles showroom in Costa Mesa, California, was configured in Ivory with Black upholstery and the non-Carrera range-topping 75bhp Super engine.
Interestingly, although a US-spec. example, chassis 102818 was originally supplied via AFN (the official Porsche distributor for the UK) to American serviceman Jerald Belenger who was stationed in England at the time.
Today, chassis 102818 is being offered in running and driving condition. It is largely original and unrestored and will no doubt need some TLC, but looks great with its well worn paint and upholstery.
Significantly, the car is still accompanied by that all-important matching numbers Super engine.
