One to Buy: Manual gearbox 2 owner Balloon White 2007 Lamborghini Murcielagio LP640
Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2001, the Murcielago was the first new Lamborghini model to emerge under Audi stewardship but thankfully it remained true to the Italian company’s ethos.
Following the completion of a little over 2000 first generation Murcielagos, Lamborghini introduced a further uprated variant at the Los Angeles Motor Show in January 2006. Dubbed LP640, this latest iteration most notably featured an engine enlarged from 6.2 to 6.5-litres, a face-lifted exterior and interior, enhanced brakes, handsome new wheels and a variety of new optional extras.
Once again offered in Coupe or Roadster trim, the LP640 could similarly be configured with either a traditional manual or F1-style paddle shift gearbox.
Like so many high performance exotics of the era, the overwhelming majority of LP640 buyers opted to go for Lamborghini’s expensive F1-style E-gear transmission despite the manual ‘box having offered arguably the purest driving experience. With just a reputed 88 of the 1250 LP640 Coupes completed in manual trim, these cars have understandably become extremely sought after.
Today, one of those rarely seen second generation Murcielagos is on offer at the L’Art de l’Automobile showroom in Paris: chassis ‘02360’.
Configured in optional Balloon White Metallic over a Black leather Q-Citura diamond quilted interior, ‘02360’ was also ordered with the vented glass engine cover, front axle lift, sat-nav, yellow brake calipers and gloss black wheels.
Having covered a little over 35,000km in the care of just two owners since delivery in February 2007, chassis ‘02360’ is being offered in superb condition throughout and comes complete with a fully documented service history.

We are pleased to offer for sale an exceptional example of the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640, since this car is equipped with the extremely rare manual gearbox. In fact, only 88 examples of the 1,250 Murcielago LP640 Coupes produced left the factory equipped with the manual gearbox: 52 were delivered to Europe, 23 to the USA, 6 to Canada and 7 to the rest of the world.
This car left the factory in the optional Balloon White paint, with a black leather interior with Q-Citura stitching, Sport seats, embossed logos and numerous carbon keys. The engine hood is glazed, an option priced at almost €7,000. It is also equipped with the lift and we have the original car radio.
Even better, this example has benefited from a very regular maintenance and has an impressive file of invoices since new. This Murcielago is therefore in impeccable mechanical condition in addition to a remarkable aesthetic condition.
With a total of 35,300 km, this Murcielago LP640 has had only two owners: it was delivered by Lamborghini Rome in 2007, then was sold in 2016 to its current owner in France, when it had just over 25,000 km. The car has been enjoyed regularly since then and now shows 35,300 km. We of course have its original maintenance booklet, its instructions and its spare keys. This Murcielago will be sold serviced.
In the early 2000s, Lamborghini was bought by Audi and the Diablo bowed out. Its successor was the Murcielago, whose design marked an entire generation, in the same way as the Countach. First presented in a version developing 580 horsepower, the model benefited in 2006 from a makeover that gave birth to the Murcielago LP640.
The naturally aspirated V12 now develops 640 horsepower, allowing 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and a maximum speed of 211 mph. The dimensions are also excessive: 2.05 meters wide and 114 cm high!
The result is a car with the sharp design typical of Lamborghini, a real approved vessel. The deployable side gills are retained, as well as the central exhaust integrated into the rear bumper, which is formed on this new generation of a single spectacular pot. The front bumper is even more imposing. The superb optional Hemera rims make their appearance.
