One to Buy: Manual gearbox 2 owner Balloon White 2007 Lamborghini Murcielagio LP640

Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2001, the Murcielago was the first new Lamborghini model to emerge under Audi stewardship but thankfully it remained true to the Italian company’s ethos.

Following the completion of a little over 2000 first generation Murcielagos, Lamborghini introduced a further uprated variant at the Los Angeles Motor Show in January 2006. Dubbed LP640, this latest iteration most notably featured an engine enlarged from 6.2 to 6.5-litres, a face-lifted exterior and interior, enhanced brakes, handsome new wheels and a variety of new optional extras.

Once again offered in Coupe or Roadster trim, the LP640 could similarly be configured with either a traditional manual or F1-style paddle shift gearbox.

Like so many high performance exotics of the era, the overwhelming majority of LP640 buyers opted to go for Lamborghini’s expensive F1-style E-gear transmission despite the manual ‘box having offered arguably the purest driving experience. With just a reputed 88 of the 1250 LP640 Coupes completed in manual trim, these cars have understandably become extremely sought after.

Today, one of those rarely seen second generation Murcielagos is on offer at the L’Art de l’Automobile showroom in Paris: chassis ‘02360’.

Configured in optional Balloon White Metallic over a Black leather Q-Citura diamond quilted interior, ‘02360’ was also ordered with the vented glass engine cover, front axle lift, sat-nav, yellow brake calipers and gloss black wheels.

Having covered a little over 35,000km in the care of just two owners since delivery in February 2007, chassis ‘02360’ is being offered in superb condition throughout and comes complete with a fully documented service history.
