One to Buy: 1 of 1 Irish Green 9500 mile 1989 Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera Club Sport
/ Ben Tyer
When Porsche began offering the 911 Carrera Coupe in Club Sport trim during late 1987, most customers couldn’t understand why, for precisely the same price, they wouldn’t just purchase the ordinary, more refined, much higher equipment ‘regular’ Carrera with exactly the same amount of horsepower.
As a consequence, between August 1987 and September 1989, a paltry 340 copies of the hardcore Club Sport lightweight were manufactured. Of these, 28 crossed the Atlantic for North America to include this car, chassis WP0AB0915KS120507, which is currently residing at the Road Scholars showroom in Durham, North Carolina.
As you can see, this is no ordinary Grand Prix White Club Sport with lurid red highlights. Instead, the first owner opted for rarely seen Irish Green, a non-metallic Paint to Sample shade. The only known Club Sport finished as such, chassis ‘120507’ was further configured with Black Porsche-script fabric upholstery and matching carpet.
A completion date of October 19th 1988 marks this out as one of just seven Club Sports delivered to North America as part of the 1989 model year run.
This remarkable one-of-one very low owner Club Sport is being offered with a little over 9500 miles on the odometer. It is accompanied by a fully documented history and looks to be in superb unrestored condition throughout.
