One to Buy: 2200km from new Cannon Black 2000 Aston Martin Vantage V600 Le Mans

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Aston Martin’s victory at the 1959 Le Mans 24 Hours when the DBR1s of Carroll Shelby / Roy Salvadori and Maurice Trintignant / Paul Frere finished first and second, a limited edition Vantage was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1999.

Offered in both V550 and V600 trim, the Vantage Le Mans featured a blanked off radiator intake with distinctive corner openings, a pair or large hood-mounted cooling vents, DBR1-style vents behind each front wheel and an aluminium alloy fuel filler cap. Inside, natural aluminium inserts replaced the usual burr walnut.

The brakes and Dymag wheels from the V600 were fitted as standard along with a cover that concealed the wheel bolts to give a centre-lock effect.

Just 40 examples of the Vantage Le Mans were produced, number 30 of which is currently on the market at the Thiesen Automobile showroom in Hamburg.

One of 22 units built in left-hand drive, this exceptionally low mileage V600 example was configured in the almost certainly unique colour scheme of Cannon Black with Dark Green leather and light green alcantara inserts.

Since completion in the year 2000, number 30 has been owned by just three custodians and covered a mere 2200km. Most recently, the car has been subjected to a major recommissioning at a renowned Aston Martin specialist, the bill for which came in at a remarkable €80,000.
