VIN: the Brunei Royal Family Aston Martin V8 Volante Zagato chassis 30015

History of chassis 30015
Chassis 30015 was one of 37 Aston Martin V8 Volantes built with coachwork by Zagato and one of 27 completed in 1988.
It was configured in Vulcan Black with Black upholstery, right-hand drive and automatic transmission. Two other Zagato Volantes were completed to a similar specification, but with left-hand drive (chassis 30023 and 30029, both of which were also 1988 cars and destined for Germany).
By contrast, chassis 30015 (which was converted to Vantage Zagato front end by Aston Martin Works Service) made its way into the Brunei Royal Collection where it joined a trio of Zagato-bodied V8 Vantages (chassis 20021, 20023 and 20042). These cars formed part of a circa 80-strong fleet of Aston Martins purchased by the Brunei Royals during the 1980s and 1990s. Included were a significant number of coachbuilt specials created at enormous expense. This lavish expenditure was funded by Brunei’s vast natural gas and oil reserves which, as head of state, absolute monarch and head of government, the Sultan, Hassanal Bolkiah, was in total control of.
Upon delivery to Brunei, chassis 30015 was registered BQ8228. It has remained part of the Brunei Royal Collection ever since.
