One to Buy: ex-MS Racing 2013 Audi R8 LMS Ultra

Having debuted during the 2009 season, Audi’s R8 LMS went on to become one of the most successful GT3 racing cars of its era.
An improved Evolution variant came on stream for the 2010 campaign which was in turn followed by the ultimate iteration, the LMS Evolution, in 2012. By this time, the R8 LMS had already won 115 races to include overall victories at the Spa 24 Hours and Bathurst 12 Hours along with twelve national and international titles.
Included among the myriad updates developed for the R8 LMS Ultra were a torquier engine with new exhaust system, a beefed-up transmission, optimised cooling systems for the engine, transmission, brakes, steering hydraulics and interior, a wider, louvred front hood, a new front underbody plate with better diffusion, a re-positioned and wider rear wing with larger end plates, lightweight CFRP doors with high-energy absorbing crash foam, wider wheels and tyres, uniball transverse control arm mounts, lightweight adjustable Bilstein gas dampers and a lightweight PS1 safety seat.

As a consequence of their competitiveness, most examples of the R8 LMS were raced hard across multiple seasons, often by many different teams and drivers. However, currently on offer at the Springbok Sportwagen showroom in Isernhagen is a remarkably well preserved and highly original example that was used for just the 2013 campaign and then put on display.
One of two LMS Ultras supplied to the reigning ADAC GT Masters champions, MS Racing, this particular machine was allocated to Florian Stoll and Sebastian Asch who used it for all eight double header events that made up the 2013 season.
The car recorded six top ten finishes with a best result of fifth in the season finale (Race 2 at Hockenheim) and is presented in exactly the same configuration as it crossed the line that day in September 2013.
