Of all the iconic motor cars introduced during the 1980s, perhaps the most influential was Audi’s Quattro.

With its four-wheel drive transmission, turbocharged inline five cylinder engine and handsome Coupe bodywork, the Quattro became an instant commercial hit despite its high price and initial lack of a right-hand drive version.

Another aspect of the Quattro’s appeal lay in its competition prowess; Audi claimed the 1982 and ‘84 World Rally Championship for Manufacturers and the 1983 and ‘84 Drivers’ titles. Had it not been for the advent of highly specialised Group B cars from 1982 onwards, the Quattro would likely have remained dominant for many years to come.

Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1980, the original UR Quattro was produced until late 1987 when a revised MB variant was introduced for the 1988 model year.

One of the last UR Quattros to roll of the production line is currently on offer at the L’Art de l’Automobile showroom in Paris.

Completed in September 1987 just a few weeks before the subsequent MB version was introduced, this particular example is finished in the handsome colour scheme of Zermatt Silver over Black full leather upholstery. Having covered a little over 87,000km from new, it has remained in the possession of just three owners from new and is offered in superb condition throughout.

The first Audi Quattro was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1980. This car had the privilege of being assembled directly in Ingolstadt, by hand, requiring 40 hours of work between the arrival of the painted bodywork and the release of a car ready for delivery. Once completed, each Quattro benefits from an extensive road test. Very quickly, this car enjoyed enormous success in competition, so much so that in 1982, Audi became world champion in competition.

The first series of the Quattro is the 10V model with 4 square headlights. The chassis of the Quattro comes from the 80 and its running gear from the 200, in addition to this the car receives a fantastic 5-cylinder 2.1L Turbo delivering 200 horsepower. The 0 to 100 km/h is given for 7.1 seconds and the maximum speed established at 222 km/h, thanks to an extended fifth gear. The Audi Quattro 10V weighs 1,290 kg and is a true four-seater. The presence of all-wheel drive on a high-performance road car was a real revolution at the time. Thus the car is unbeatably practical, being able to circulate safely on muddy ground, in the rain, on snow or even on ice, but also for daily journeys.

In 1984, the interior changed: we note the appearance of superb digital counters, a new steering wheel and more sober colors for the seats. The car also receives new optics signed Cibié. In 1985, the Audi Quattro adopted the front end of the Audi GT. On the outside, we notice the Audi monograms in adhesive and also a Quattro sticker on the rear windows. At the end of its production in 1991, 11,452 copies of the Audi Quattro will have been sold, after a facelift in 1988. the first Audi Quattro Turbo is called the name "ur-quattro", "ur" meaning "original" in German.

The Audi Quattro that we offer for sale is a magnificent example from 1987, which is therefore an Ur-Quattro. This car, a third hand of French origin, benefits from a very important and quality follow-up, the result is a car in perfect aesthetic and working condition. Painted in Zermattsilber with a black interior, this superb Audi Quattro has covered 87,250 km since delivery. It is fitted with highly sought-after Ronal rims and a stainless steel exhaust line.
