One to Buy: 1 of 1 in LHD 1965 Aston Martin DB6 Shooting-Break by FLM Panelcraft

In addition to Kensington’s Radford coachworks, FLM Panelcraft based two miles across London in Battersea also offered a Shooting Break conversion for Aston Martin’s DB6.

In a similar vein to Radford’s version (the prototype of which had been commissioned by Aston Martin boss David Brown to accommodate his gun dog and shooting gear), the FLM Panelcraft DB6 featured an Estate / Station Wagon back end with split two-piece tailgate and a fold down rear seat to increase storage capacity.

Having retailed for around 50% more than a standard DB6 Coupe (which was already one of the world’s most expensive cars), buyers for Radford and FLM Panelcraft’s Shooting Break conversions were necessarily of the money-no-object category.

Of the three DB6s built to Shooting Break trim by FLM Panelcraft, just one was completed in left-hand drive: chassis DB6/2366/L. Today, that car is on offer at Thiesen Automobile’s Hamburg showroom.

Configured with the desirable manual gearbox in Aston Green with Beige upholstery, chassis DB6/2366/L was reputedly ordered new by a wealthy Texan who sent it back to the factory to commission a Shooting Break conversion.

More recently, the matching numbers car has been the recipient of multiple concours awards and looks to be in very nice condition throughout. It represents a sure fire entry to some of the world’s best Concours d’Elegance.
