One to Buy: 1200 miles from new 2010 Lamborghini Reventon Roadster

By the time Automobili Lamborghini was established in late 1963, the era of coachbuilt motor cars was pretty much over. Instead of customers being able to choose their designer of choice, models now came with an off-the-peg body, options for which were generally limited to colours and body style (Coupe, Targa, Cabriolet etc.).

The 40 years that spanned the mid 1960s to the mid 2000s saw traditional coachbuilding practically die out as a result of the vast cost to produce low volume models.

However, by the mid 2000s, a new breed of super wealthy customer had emerged that was more than happy to pay a 500% or so premium for an ultra low volume special.

With this in mind, Lamborghini unveiled the Murcielago LP640-based Reventon at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2007.

Equipped with a body and interior inspired by the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle, the Reventon was offered to customers in a limited run of 20 Coupes, after which Lamborghini produced a batch of 15 Roadsters. All 35 cars (plus the solitary works Coupe prototype) were painted satin-effect Reventon Grey with a matching two-tone interior.

Of the 15 open top Reventons, only three were right-hand drive and one of this trio is currently on offer at the Joe Macari showroom in Wandsworth, London.

A two owner car delivered to the UK in 2010, it has covered a little over 1200 miles and is offered in immaculate condition fresh from a service at Lamborghini London.

Since the Reventon’s introduction, Lamborghini has gone on to produce an array of ultra exclusive limited edition models in what has become a money-spinning exercise for the company. Following a successful introduction, the Reventon was followed by the 2012 Sesto Elemento (20 built), the 2013 Veneno (14 built) and the 2016 Centenario (40 built).
