One to Buy: 1300 mile Pastel Orange 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS (991)

Although Porsche’s early water-cooled GT-badged models were relatively discrete in terms of aerodynamic appendages, some of the more recent GT2s and GT3s have begun to incorporate the kind of radical aero that looks faintly ridiculous on street.
When it comes to massive OEM rear spoilers, few come bigger than that of the 991-type 911 GT2 RS launched in 2017. However, realising their racing style rear wing did nothing for the range-topping 911’s looks, Porsche introduced the option for a semi-spoilered Duck Tail GT2 RS that has come to be regarded as the Holy Grail of 991s.
And that’s what Canepa in Scotts Valley, California, have recently added to their stocklist.
Delivered to Porsche Grapevine of Grapevine, Texas, in August 2018, chassis WP0AE2A95JS185389 was specially commissioned by its first owner in Paint To Sample Pastel Orange. Other notable aspects of the configuration included a Black leather and alcantara interior with white instruments, front axle lift, LED headlights, a fire extinguisher and a long range fuel tank.
Chassis ‘185389’ was sold to its second owner in May 2020 at which point the car had covered just 254 miles. It was acquired by Canepa 4.5 years later with a little over 1000 miles showing. Having put the car through a rigorous preparation programme, Canepa also removed the OEM rear spoiler, added carbonfibre winglets for the Duck Tail, refinished the wheels in Platinum and added tartan inlays to the seat centres.
The car is now being offered with a little under 1300 miles on the odometer.
