History of chassis 1121100

Chassis 1121100 was the last of 50 Series 1 LP400 S built.

A left-hand drive example constructed in October 1979, it was painted the unusual shade of Luci Di Bosco (brown metallic) with gold wheels, a white leather interior and the optional rear spoiler.

Perhaps because of the colour scheme (and Automobili Lamborghini’s well-documented financial problems) it took a while to find a buyer. The car went unregistered until April 1982, by which time it had been imported to the UK.

The purchaser was Frank Bradley Jr. who ran his family’s successful fish wholesaling business in London.

Bradley was also an enthusiastic amateur racing driver. Sporting its distinctive FJB 1 number plate, the car was seen at various UK circuits during his ownership. A short time after taking delivery, Mr Bradley removed the rear spoiler.

By 1988, the Countach had been sold to Mike Pullen, owner of the legendary Lamborghini service centre, Carrera Sport, in Haywards Heath, East Sussex.

Carrera Sport ran track days throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, at which 1121100 was almost ever present.

During this time, the registration was switched to 653 RU, then YLW 34X and finally back again to 653 RU. The exterior colour was also changed to purple with silver wheels.

In later years, chassis 1121100 was sold back to Italy.

The first photograph was taken at Castle Combe in 1982. The Gallery photographs were taken at Castle Combe and Goodwood between 1988 and 1993.
