One to Buy: Number 4 of 80 built 2000 Lamborghini Diablo GT
Undoubtedly the most extreme road-going iteration of the Diablo was the GT which Lamborghini unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1999.
It was the first Diablo production car to featured the stroked six-litre GT2-derived engine which came riddled with advanced technology and pumped out a monster 575bhp. Thanks to extensive use of carbonfibre, weight was reduced by 70kg compared to the similarly rear-drive SV.
The GT’s bodywork was modified to incorporate a new front apron, a vented front lid, flared and vented front fenders, carbonfibre skirts and a carbonfibre rear diffuser (in place of a conventional bumper). There was also a new snorkel-type roof-mounted air intake and a cockpit-adjustable rear spoiler.
Inside, Lamborghini fitted bucket seats with four-point harnesses, a tilted gear lever and made considerable use of exposed carbonfibre.
Unsurprisingly, the limited run of 80 cars quickly sold out despite the GT having only been available in left-hand drive and excluded from sale in North America (on safety and emissions grounds).
Currently on offer at the Movendi showroom in Dusseldorf is this stunning Pearlescent Yellow Diablo GT: number 4 of 80.
Having initially been retained as a factory demonstrator, number 4 was subsequently delivered to an Italian customer and has today covered a little over 51,500km.
It is presented with its original paintwork intact and would surely make a spectacular addition to any high end Lamborghini collection.
