VIN: Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary chassis KLA12557
History of chassis KLA12557
Chassis KLA12557 was the first of four Anniversary-spec. Countach painted this particular shade of Blu Speciale. All four were right-hand drive with Bianco upholstery to include a matching steering wheel rim and gear knob. The dash top and steering wheel boss were normally trimmed in dark blue leather.
Uniquely among this Blu Speciale group, KLA12557 was originally equipped with a rear spoiler.
KLA12557 was one of two Blu Speciale cars that UK Lamborghini distributor, Portman, took delivery of at the same time. The sister car (KLA12558) was to a similar specification, albeit without a rear spoiler.
The commission for KLA12557 and KLA12558 came from Portman themselves. At the time, the collector car market was in the midst of a spectacular boom and Portman hoped to make a large profit on both vehicles.
KLA12557 was dispatched from the factory on April 7th 1989. However, it was not registered with the UK authorities until August, at which point it was issued the licence plate G997 VJD.
Both KLA12557 and KLA12558 are understood to have been sold to Ferrari dealer, Barry Chadwick in London.
By mid 1991, KLA12557 had been sold to a new owner. It was seen at a number of owners club meets and track days. These photographs were taken at Castle Combe and the annual Ferrari Owners Club Concours in 1991.
In later years, KLA12557 was exported to Thailand.
