VIN: the Gerald Carrol Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary chassis KLA12060
History of chassis KLA12060
Of the 657 examples manufactured between 1988 and 1990 (67 of which were right-hand drive), no other Countach Anniversary was built like chassis KLA12060.
It was the fourth and final Countach supplied to Gerald Carroll who was head of the privately owned Carroll Group of companies from the late 1970s until 1995. At its peak during the mid-to-late 1980s, the Carroll Group had estimated net assets valued at over £250m, but the company collapsed with rising debts during the 1990s recession.
Ordered in mid 1989, KLA12060 was not completed until June 1990.
Carroll wanted the Countach to match his Bentley. To that end, the Lamborghini was painted special order Brewster Green. The interior was upholstered with green leather, green carpet, a red steering wheel rim, red gear knob and red piping. The surface materials were supplied to Lamborghini by Bentley. Another interesting request was for gold-plated wheel nuts.
Not registered until early 1991, chassis KLA12060 was sold to the second owner in November 1995 with just 1900km on the clock. Purchased from Lancaster East London by Ken Floyd of Orpington, the price was a whisker under £65,000.
Throughout his two-year tenure, Mr Floyd had the car maintained by Mike Pullen of Carrera Sport in Haywards Heath.
During this period, KLA12060 was a regular at Goodwood and Castle Combe track days.
These photographs were taken at Goodwood in early 1997. That December, Ken Floyd traded the Countach for a grey Diablo at Lamborghini GB in Reading.
From here, it was sold to Roger Brooks for £53,000 in July 1998. A factory supplied rear wing was fitted soon afterwards.
KLA12060 was looked after by main dealers and Carrera Sport until 2007, at which point it was exported to Hong Kong. Maintained by Kong Kei Service Centre and Italian Motors, it returned to the UK in 2010.
Fourth owner Geoff Forty bought the car for £87,000 via Poole-based Emblem Sports Cars in August 2012 before it next changed hands at the Bonhams Bond Street sale in December 2016. Sold for £234,000, it was purchased by Amari Supercars who subsequently put a £350,000 sticker on it.
