One to Buy: 375 mile ex-Phil Bachman 2004 Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale

Ferrari famously created the 360 Challenge Stradale in order to homologate some upgrades that would pave the way for an even more potent GT3 racing car.

Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2003, around 1300 copies of the Challenge Stradale were built, the majority of which left the factory in new Rosso Scuderia or traditional Rosso Corsa.

To find a Challenge Stradale in a sophisticated dark colour is hard enough, but to come across one with an almost certainly unique configuration and little more than delivery miles really happens seldomly .

However, that’s what will be going under the hammer at Mecum’s Kissimmee sale on January 17th.

Delivered in 2004, chassis 139837 was ordered in the striking combination of green with two-tone beige and green alcantara suede upholstery. Other aspects of the specification included yellow brake calipers, a tri-colour racing stripe, electric glass windows, coloured stitching, a dedication plate and a set of fitted luggage.

The car was ordered new by Phil Bachman of Greeneville, Tennessee, who between 1984 and 2017 accumulated a 46-strong collection of new and classic Ferraris to include a 166 Mille Miglia, a 432 mile Daytona and a unique yellow FXX.

The majority of Bachman’s collection rank among the lowest mileage Ferraris of their type and chassis 139837 is no different - it will be crossing the block with just 375 miles on the odometer.
