One to Buy: 2400 mile Mark II Black 2004 Ford GT
Although Ford had produced a series of iconic RS-badged models throughout the 1970s, 80s and 90s, a replacement for the quadruple Le Mans 24 Hours-winning GT failed to appear until the turn of the 21st century.
Unlike the original, this latest iteration of arguably Ford’s most revered creation was developed exclusively for road use. It initially broke cover at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2002 and, following a positive reception, customer deliveries began in August 2004 for the 2005 model year.
At the heart of this latest GT was a supercharged 5.4-litre 550bhp V8 developed by Roush Engineering. This was dropped into an aluminium spaceframe chassis with double wishbone suspension, massive Brembo brakes and a retro-inspired body that mimicked the 1960s original.
By the time production came to an end in September 2006, 4038 examples of the Ford GT had been completed, one particularly fine specimen of which is currently on offer at the Tomini Classics showroom in Dubai.
Originally configured in the ultra desirable colour scheme of solid Mark II Black, this example has remained in the possession of just one private owner prior to its acquisition by Tomini Classics.
Optioned with the sought after forged BBS wheel option, this superb 2004 machine also wears a reversible set of white racing stripes. Having covered a mere 2400 miles from new, it must surely rank as one of the finest Ford GTs in existence.

In the late 1990s, Ford realised that their 100 year anniversary was fast-approaching. To celebrate, they commissioned talented designer Camilo Pardo to design a high-performance project, inspired in the Ford GT40 —the car that beat Ferrari at Le Mans and imprinted the Ford nameplate in the international racing scene.
The GT’s supercharged 5.4 litre V8 has an output of approximately 550 horsepower, and is mated to a 6-speed Ricardo transmission that helps propel the car to 60mph in 3.3 seconds —a very respectable figure when released in 2005. Combined with its low centre of gravity and 1960’s-inspired looks, the Ford GT quickly became one of the most desirable cars on the market, with long wait-lists for delivery, and still very sought-after today.
This particular example, one of roughly 4,000 GT’s ever made, was sold straight out of the United States to its only owner before us. The car is finished in an elegant shade of black —a solid car, originally— with reversible vinyl stripes and decals, and it has been sparely driven; it has only covered less than 3,000 miles since new.
