VIN: the Prince Khalid bin Faisal Al Saud Lamborghini Countach 5000 S chassis DLA12568
History of chassis DLA12568
Chassis DLA12568 was a left-hand drive Countach 5000 S ordered through Al Ayda in Saudi Arabia by Prince Khalid bin Faisal Al Saud of Riyadh.
Prince Khalid was the third son of King Faisal and at the time served as the governor of Asir Province, a role he had held since 1971. He configured his Countach in the period combination of Rosso paint with Bianco upholstery and also specified the expensive rear spoiler option.
DLA12568 was signed off on March 25th 1983 and immediately delivered to 43-year old Prince Khalid at his European residence: the Intercontinental Hotel in Geneva. At this stage, the car was on temporary Italian Escursionisti Esteri plates.
Soon afterwards, Prince Khalid had his red Countach exported to the UK where it was registered on the private plate 1 KF at his home in St. Johns Wood, London. Over the next few years the car was used sparingly; in December 1989 it was sold along with the personalised plate with just 3800km showing on the odometer.
The car is depicted here during 1990 at the Portman Lamborghini service centre in Brentford soon after acquisition by the car’s second owner.
