One to Buy: Aegean Blue 1962 Aston Martin DB4 Vantage Series 4

By combining the air-piercing nose from the short wheelbase DB4 GT, a tuned engine and the familiar long wheelbase DB4 chassis, the fixed head DB4 Vantage offered state-of-art aerodynamics and extra go with the space and creature comforts most DB4 buyers wanted.

Offered alongside the ‘base’ DB4 (concurrently built in fourth and fifth generation trim), 168 copies of the DB4 Vantage were built between 1961 and ‘63. This figure included 45 Series 4-based Coupes, 14 of which were left-hand drive. At Gallery Aaldering in Brummen, Holland, probably the most handsomely configured of all those 14 is currently on sale.

Ordered in the spectacular colour scheme of Aegean Blue with White Gold upholstery, this gorgeous car, like most examples of the DB4 Vantage, left Aston Martin with the additional instrumentation from the DB4 GT. It was delivered in 1962 by Aston Martin’s French distributor, Garage Mirabeau in Paris, to a Seigneur Suetet from Lyon. The car is said to have spent the greater part of its life in Lyon and the surrounding region.

According to Gallery Aaldering: “This Aston Martin is presented in exceptionally beautiful condition. The deep blue accentuates the long hood and flowing body lines, while the light-colored interior provides exactly the right degree of contrast. Elegant, classic, and timeless.”

“The exterior, interior, and mechanical components all reflect the standard one may rightly expect from an Aston Martin of this stature. With its superb paintwork, exceptionally straight body, and beautifully running engine, this is an example in excellent condition

A left-hand-drive DB4 Vantage SS Series IV in its original color combination, with a long and distinguished history in Lyon. Rare, powerful, and refined, but above all extraordinarily beautiful.”
