One to Buy: 25,000 mile 1 family owned 1994 Ford Escort RS Cosworth Lux

Of all the Group A homologation specials produced during the 1980s and 90s, arguably the most notorious were Ford’s massively spoilered Sierra and Escort RS Cosworths.

Thanks to their uniquely aggressive look and mainstream appeal, these cars entered the public consciousness in a manner hitherto unseen for competition-derived homologation specials and became true icons of their era.

In recent years, values for both variants have soared in line with the explosion of interest in 1990s collector cars; remarkably, they can now command values in excess of a Ferrari from the same era.

Currently on offer at the JF Classic Cars showroom in Grimsby, Lancashire, is a superb example of the Series 2 ‘Small Turbo’ Escort Cosworth in a really handsome configuration.

Completed in August 1994 with Mallard Green paint, it was also specified with the optional Lux pack that comprised an electric sunroof, electric heated door mirrors, a Quick-clear heated windscreen, a three-spoke leather covered steering wheel, carpeted door bins, a rear seat armrest, opening rear quarter windows and heated headlight washer jets.

The car was supplied by Skipton Ford in North Yorkshire and has remarkably remained in the possession of one family ever since. It is being offered in excellent unrestored condition complete with the original book pack and is showing a little over 25,000 miles on the odometer.
