One to Buy: rare Bianco / Rosso 1967 Ferrari 330 GTC (SOLD)

Ferrari created the 330 GTC and drop head GTS as refined two-seaters to sell alongside the 275 GTB with its rakish Berlinetta-style bodywork. Other models in the range included the super high end and ultra low volume 365 California and the four-seat 330 GT which would soon be replaced by the 365 GT.

Despite having a desirable two-seat layout, GTC prices are today a fraction of the 275 GTB which in real world terms offers very similar levels of performance but slightly less practicality.

For some, the GTC’s gorgeous Coupe bodywork is even more appealing than the GTB which makes these cars really stand out in terms their excellent value for money (in vintage Ferrari terms at least!).

Unveiled alongside the 365 California at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1966, the 330 GTC was a replacement for Ferrari’s much-loved 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso and most notably ushered in a five-speed transaxle gearbox with enclosed fixed torque tube driveshaft (a feature subsequently adopted on the 275).

Currently on offer at the Autosport Designs showroom in Huntington Station, New York, is this beautifully configured 330 GTC completed in January 1967 and dispatched to Chinetti Motors in Greenwich, Connecticut.

This matching numbers car left Maranello in the stunning but rarely seen colour scheme of Bianco with Rosso upholstery. It was also optioned with air-conditioning on behalf of the first owner, Alfred Miller of New York, who retained it until 1977.

Today this beautiful 330 GTC is presented in excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition and comes complete with a historical record documented by renowned Ferrari historian, Marcel Massini.

Reprinted below is Autosport Designs’ description for this handsome 1960s Ferrari Coupe:

Bianco (White) with Rosso (Red) leather interior and Red Carpeting, 81,000 miles from new, Complete and thorough restoration, History documented by Massini, Matching Numbers, Original colors, Factory electric windows, Factory air conditioning.

This Ferrari 330 GTC was completed at the Ferrari factory, January 1967. It was then delivered to Luigi Chinetti Motors, Greenwich, CT, February 1968. During the same month, this 330 was delivered to its first registered owner, Alfred Miller, New York, NY.

In 1977, it was sold to the West Coast and its second owner. In 1980, still located on the West Coast, the 330 was painted Rosso Corsa and retrimmed in Black leather. 1984 shows this 330 in the Ferrari Owners Club USA membership roster having been owned by well-known Lamborghini dealer-specialist, Al Burtoni, Gilroy, CA.

In 1988, the 330 was sold to Dennis Awtrey, Phoenix, AZ. Dennis Awtrey owned the GTC for the next twenty-one years and until its being purchased by well-known Ferrari enthusiast, Thomas Shaughnessy, San Clemente, CA. At this time, it was showing only 79,000 original miles.

In August 2009, the 330 was sold by Shaughnessy to David Hodge, Miami, FL and personally inspected by Marcel Massini. Stored by Shaughnessy for a number of months, the 330 GTC was finally delivered to Hodge, January 2010. The 330 was kept in Hodge ownership until 2017 when sold to Mexican collector ownership.

In 2018, it received mechanical servicing by well-known Houston specialists Drivers Source and has enjoyed limited use since. 2019 saw this 330 GTC being cosmetically restored, both exterior and interior by Automecano. Automecano also restored the 330's suspension, brakes and exhaust and detailed the engine bay as needed.

This 330 GTC has led a charmed life to date. It has always been owned by Ferrari enthusiast collectors. The 330 GTC is regarded as one of the best driving Ferrari's of all time.

Upon our recent road test, this 330 GTC drove exceptionally well with impeccable road manners, great power, braking, excellent gearbox, clutch, no differential noise and that wonderful V12 vintage Ferrari sound.

In exceptional condition throughout, this 330 GTC is ready for immediate use or concours.
