History of chassis 4816

Chassis 4816 was one of the nine Miuras originally built to right-hand drive SV specification.

It was configured with Giallo Fly paint, a Bleu interior, silver sills, silver wheels and air-conditioning.

Lamborghini completed 4816 on January 28th 1972. A few days later it arrived at the firm’s British distributor, Lamborghini GB in the City of London. The SV was registered LYV 168K in February.

Chassis 4816 was supplied as a 21st birthday gift to Peter Hay of Windlesham, Surrey.

Hay’s family ran Norman Hay PLC, a global chemical, sealants, surface coatings and engineering group that supplied products and systems to the aerospace, automotive, oil, gas, mining and energy sectors.

Peter Hay clearly thought a great deal of his handsome Miura and the Sant’Agata marque in general; he kept chassis 4816 for 22 years and went on to become Chairman of the Lamborghini Club UK. Hay also purchased an Argento Countach 25th Anniversary (chassis KLA12960) that was delivered in 1990.

Peter Hay retained chassis 4816 until 1993. Since then it has gone through the hands of a couple more British owners.

In 1995 the car was displayed by Lamborghini Great Britain to mark the launch of the Diablo SE30 Jota.
