History of chassis KLA12958

Chassis KLA12958 was the only Countach Anniversary to leave the factory painted Arancio Miura. It was ordered via the UK concessionaire, Portman Lamborghini, by Richard Earl who in 1986 had acquired the famous Arancio Countach LP400 chassis 1120106.

Earl specified the unusual hue for his Anniversary so it would match the LP400. However, the factory were initially reluctant to accept the commission as they no longer offered the colour. After much deliberation, the order was eventually approved and considerable time was spent to ensure a perfect match.

Richard Earl visited the factory during KLA12958’s assembly stage and took delivery in May 1990. That same month, the car was registered G612 VYT. A short time later, Earl acquired the registration A3 DUU which this unique Countach has retained ever since.

One of 657 Countach Anniversaries built (of which 67 were right-hand drive), KLA12958 was taken off the road in 1995. It was recommissioned in 2017 with little over 6000km on the odometer.

These photographs were taken at the Silverstone Historic Festival in July 1990.
