History of chassis KLA12558

KLA12558 was one of two consecutively numbered Countach 25th Anniversaries ordered by the British Lamborghini distributor, Portman, at the height of the late 1980s collector car boom. Portman did not have customers lined up for the two cars, instead they hoped to sell both for above list price in what was a red hot market.

Like KLA12557, KLA12558 was configured in Blu Speciale with Bianco upholstery to include a matching steering wheel rim and gear knob. The upper dash and steering wheel boss were trimmed in dark blue leather. Unlike KLA12557, KLA12558 did not come equipped with the expensive rear spoiler option.

KLA12558 was dispatched from the factory on May 24th 1989, six weeks after its sister car.

Portman is believed to have sold both cars to Ferrari dealer, Barry Chadwick in London.

KLA12558 was not road registered until October 1993, at which point is was issued the licence plate L345 DPB. By this time the car was being offered for sale by dealer Paul Baber along with a large collection of exotics from a liquidated collection.

Soon after its registration, the still delivery mileage Countach was displayed on Paul Baber’s stand at the London Motor Show.

Since then, the car has gone through the hands of a couple more owners, been re-registered L500 UFO and had a rear spoiler installed.
