History of chassis 132051

Although Ferrari initially planned to build 349 Enzos, this figure was later officially increased to 399 production cars. However, the actual number of Enzos built is thought to be closer to 500, although Ferrari have never published the true figure.

The Enzo was only offered to Ferrari’s best customers, typically those that already owned a selection of products from Maranello.

Perhaps the most famous Enzo delivered to the UK was chassis 132051.

Uniquely configured in Nero Metallic with a Verde leather interior, it was purchased by Jay Kay of Jamiroquai after the original buyer backed out.

By 2003, Jamiroquai had become one of the best-selling funk bands of all time. Album sales in the tens of millions and earnings from tours enabled Jay Kay to purchase a fleet of high end and collectable motor cars.

The Enzo was registered V17 JET and joined Kay’s collection which, at the time, included a Maserati A6G, Lamborghini Miura SV and multiple Ferraris.

In June 2003, Kay and his Enzo appeared on the front cover of Car magazine. That same month, 132051 was driven up the hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed as part of the Supercar class.

In March 2009, Jay Kay and his Enzo attracted national publicity when the car’s windscreen and driver’s side window were smashed by a drunk chef who was subsequently sentenced to 20 weeks in jail.

Later on, the V17 JET plate was transferred to Kay’s Ferrari GTC4 Lusso.
