One to Buy: Hyperion Blue 1992 Ferrari F40

At Supercar Nostalgia we generally don’t like to cover anything from the resto-mod scene as, from a perspective of historical preservation, we believe cars should remain true to their original period state. However, we’ve made an exception for a particularly interesting F40 currently on the market at the Art & Revs showroom in Howald, Luxembourg, which is a good illustration of what might have been had Ferrari chosen to offer their range-topper in a wider choice of trim.
Chassis 94647 started life as a standard late production F40 originally delivered to an Italian customer in 1992.
In 2023, the current owner decided to use the by now 30,000km car as base with which to create his dream F40. With that in mind, chassis 94647 was completely dismantled and brought back up to effectively new condition with a handful of carefully chosen modifications.

Most obviously, the exterior colour was changed to Hyperion Blue and the seats re-upholstered in dark blue suede alcantara. An air-conditioning system was installed for added comfort.
Under the skin, the suspension and brakes were suitably enhanced, the former with a fully adjustable KW lift kit. Modified wastegates were another modification along with a Tubi Style exhaust system and an F40 LM gearbox (reputedly one of just 30 built).
With nominal mileage having been covered since completion, chassis 94647 is being offered in superb condition throughout complete with its original service book.

The Hyperion "Blue Chip F40"
Fully upgraded to be a perfect driver
One of the most famous F40
The extraordinary Hyperion "Blue Chip" F40 was imagined by a prominent Ferrari lover and large collector with a big passion for F40s since, well like most of us, he had a poster of the car his teenager’s bedroom.
After owning an F40 for quite a while, he felt the car could be much more than it was, as what he had dreamt of looking at his bedroom poster, didn't match what he expected in driving pleasure and performance. The idea was to build a car that would be as sensational to drive as its sculptural lines would suggest.
Originally a late-model Italian car, this F40 was delivered in Italy in 1992 and was sold to the UK in the late 1990s, where it has had three successive owners bringing the total mileage to 30,000 km. It has been serviced regularly as detailed in the service book, it was never damaged and was solid, clean car.
In 2023 our client decided to fulfil a lifelong dream and create his perfect F40. After a complete dismantling of the car, the main work was focused on improving braking, grip and performance. To this end the car was in the great lines equipped with:
Large 355mm Brembo brakes
KW fully adjustable suspension with lift kit
18 inch wheels with Pirelli Zero Corsa tyres
Ultra rare LM gearbox, one of the 30 built
Tubi Style exhaust
Modified waste gates
Upgraded Air Conditioning
As a regular customer of Icona Ferraris, who is used to design his cars with elegance and style, he decided to make it even more unique by finishing the body with this beautiful Hyperion Blue, on Suede Blue interior, making his F40 a breathtaking one. He nicknamed it "the Blue Chip F40" and the car instantly became an icon among enthusiasts and on social media. It is now widely recognised as one of the most famous F40s of all time. This reinvented Ferrari offers tremendous driving sensations and really delivers what you would expect from your teenage dream.
