One to Buy: 1 of 1 in Solar Yellow 2015 McLaren 650S Le Mans

When McLaren launched its 650S Le Mans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the F1 GTR’s victory at la Sarthe, the entire production run sold out almost immediately.

Accessorised with a host of desirable MSO upgrades, the 650S Le Mans also came with a selection of unique enhancements such as its F1 GTR-style wheels and matching vented front fenders. In total, 50 copies were built, all of which were configured with Coupe bodywork.

Inevitably, most customers opted to go with the standard 650S Le Mans exterior of Sarthe Grey paint which mimicked the Ueno Clinic-backed F1 GTR that had won the 24 Hour classic back in ‘95. However, a small number of VIPs were able to commission cars in other liveries such as the buyer of the unique example depicted here which is currently residing at the Alastair Bols showroom in Essex.

Delivered in July 2015 to “a friend of the McLaren F1 family”, this car was configured to honour the F1 GTR that placed third at Le Mans in 1995: chassis 06R.

Campaigned by Dave Price Racing on behalf of Moody Fayed, the nephew of British-domiciled Egyptian billionaire, Mohamed Al-Fayed, 06R bagged the final podium spot at Le Mans (and second in the GT1 class) thanks to Andy Wallace, Derek Bell and Justin Bell. Elsewhere during 1995, the car also scored a couple of 4 Hour race wins in the BPR GT Championship (at Silverstone and Nogaro) where Wallace was joined by Olivier Grouillard.

In addition to its one-off Solar Yellow paint, this 650S Le Mans was configured with all-Black leather and alcantara upholstery whereas most examples of the limited run variant came with contrastingly coloured seat inlays.

The one owner car is being offered with a little over 6000 miles on the odometer. It will be supplied with a fresh McLaren service and twelve months comprehensive warranty.
