One to Buy: 164km Supernova Silver 2013 McLaren 12C 50th Anniversary Edition

In May 2013, a little under three years after McLaren had launched its spectacular 12C, a limited run special was created to celebrate the firm’s 50th anniversary.

Dubbed the 12C 50th Anniversary Edition (McLaren had dropped the familiar MP4 moniker for the 2013 model year), a total of 100 cars were built comprising 50 in each body style (Coupe and Spider). Customers were able to choose from one of three exterior colours: Carbon Black, Supernova Silver or Heritage McLaren Orange.

As part of the 50th Anniversary Edition bundle, each 12C was kitted out with a McLaren Special Operations high downforce front bumper, a carbon Kevlar front floor, carbon ceramic brakes and special McLaren 50 Ultra Lightweight wheels (the latter of which yielded an overall weight-saving of 2kg compared to normal Super Lightweight wheels).

Also included in the long list of standard equipment was full leather upholstery, a black McLaren nose badge, McLaren 50 graphics on the side intakes, the sides of the carbon tub and the floor mats, a commemorative plaque on the driver's door, a tailored black-and-silver car cover, a limited-edition key, a carbonfibre key presentation box and a specially commissioned print signed by 12C designer, Frank Stephenson.

Currently on offer with Broad Arrow in Germany through its Private Sales department is one of these rarely seen 12C 50th Anniversary Editions: chassis SBM11AAB1EW003119.

Configured in Supernova Silver with Carbon Black Nappa leather upholstery, chassis ‘3119’ was delivered new to Germany where it has accumulated just 164km in the hands of just two custodians.

During January 2025, the car received a comprehensive service at 36km by McLaren Frankfurt costing €17.000. It is accompanied by the original book pack and exclusive 50th Anniversary Edition accessories to include the monogrammed black and silver car cover and limited-edition key.
