History of chassis 128778
Chassis 128778 was the first production-spec. Ferrari Enzo completed. It served as one of the firm’s demonstrators and starred in the original Enzo brochure.
Finished in Rosso Corsa with a Rosso interior, 128778 was unveiled to the press during a private presentation at Fiorano on June 27th 2002. On hand at the introduction was Ferrari’s President, Luca di Montezemolo, Scuderia Ferrari General Manager, Jean Todt, Technical Director, Amedeo Felisa and Vice Chairman, Piero Ferrari.
128778 was registered MO 140. It also went on to make the model’s international salon debut at the 2002 Paris Motor Show which took place between September 28th and October 13th.
Later the car was sold to a private owner.
The Enzo was only offered to Ferrari’s best customers, typically those that already owned a selection of products from Maranello.
Ferrari originally planned to sell 349 examples, but this was later increased to 399 units and then unofficially upped again. The actual number of Enzos built is thought to be closer to 500.
However many were really manufactured, chassis 128778 was the first.
