One to Buy: Unique 600km 2024 Pagani Utopia
/ Ben Tyer
Although somewhat colour sensitive, we think the Utopia is arguably on a par with Pagani’s best looking offerings: the Zonda F and Tricolore.
Conceived as a replacement for the Huayra and unveiled at the Teatro Lirico in Milan during September 2022, a production run of 99 Utopia Coupes was announced which Pagani followed up with a limited run of 130 Roadsters announced in July ‘24. Despite multi million dollar list prices, both variants sold out quickly.
Each Utopia was based around a carbo-titanium monocoque to which alloy Cr-Mo subframes were attached at either end. Suspension was via forged alloy double wishbones with helical springs and electronically-controlled shocks. The Brembo braking system comprised massive vented carbon ceramic discs of 410mm diameter at the front (with six-piston calipers) and 390mm at the rear (with four-piston calipers). APP forged alloy wheels were shod with Pirelli P Zero rubber.
In the engine bay was a twin turbocharged six-litre V12 custom developed by AMG Mercedes that developed 864bhp at 6000rpm and 811lb-ft from 2800rpm to 5900rpm. This was hooked up to a bespoke seven-speed Xtrac transmission offered in traditional manual and sequential / automated manual configurations.
Although it’s no longer possible to order one of the original Utopia Coupes from Pagani, a nearly new example in a sensational colour scheme will be going under the hammer at Mecum’s Kissimmee sale in Florida on January 16th.
Completed in 2024, chassis ZA9U11UCXRSF76035 was the 29th of those 99 Utopia Coupes and, at the time of cataloguing, was showing just 620 miles. Ordered with the automated manual transmission option, Utopia number 29 was further optioned with a unique 1 of 1 colour scheme. This comprised a one-off exposed carbonfibre finish with Blue and Purple undertones, a White and Black Huayra BC-inspired stripe kit and Black-anodised metal trim.
Inside, White leather upholstery with contrast Blue stitching was mixed with Matt exposed carbonfibre and Purple-anodising.
Further personalisation was carried out as the original buyer ordered Pagani’s optional Sport Pack. This not inexpensive upgrade included a titanium exhaust system, Aeroblade carbon wheel deflectors, Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tyres and Carbo-Titanium used for the roof, active aero flaps, gear shift paddles, gear knob and seats (the latter of which were also trimmed in lightweight leather).
