One to Buy: 1 of 1 700km from new 2017 Pagani Zonda 760 Roadster Diamante Verde

As Zonda production approached its much-delayed conclusion, Pagani inevitably began to receive an influx of requests from customers who wanted increasingly individual examples of what had come to be regarded as one of the 21st century’s most sought after and valuable motor cars.

To satisfy these ultra wealthy buyers, Pagani created the 760 series, a run of uniquely appointed Zondas that featured all the latest, greatest equipment with each vehicle built to a one-off specification precisely tailored to the customer’s desires.

Offered in both Coupe and Roadster trim, buyers could order their 760 series Zonda as either a brand new car or have an existing chassis brought up to this latest specification.

Currently on offer at the Mechatronik showroom in Pleidelsheim is the last scratch built Zonda 760 completed: the Diamante Verde.

This one-off Roadster was completed with an array of custom bodywork features (like an LM front clip and front fender extensions) along with a unique green-flecked visible carbonfibre body with matching green coachlines. Inside, the cockpit was a mix of black leather with contrast green stitching, more visible carbon plus a sprinkling of charcoal alcantara suede.

Having covered a mere 700km in the hands of two owners, this spectacular machine represents a rare opportunity to buy a one-off Zonda in as-new condition.

Pagani Zonda 760 Roadster

The extraordinary story of Horacio Pagani and his creation, the Zonda, seems almost unrepeatable today. From a single man's passion and desire to create an unrivalled super sports car in terms of performance and design, which led him to emigrate from a rural town in Argentina to Modena, Italy, and found his eponymous company, a brand was born that is now one of the world's most recognised and sought-after automotive brands.

One relationship was the key to the creation of the Zonda: that of Horacio Pagani and his Argentinian compatriot and five-time world champion Juan Manuel Fangio.

Fangio recognised the rare talents and determination of Horacio Pagani and not only wrote letters of recommendation for his young compatriot, he also helped him move to Italy and develop his important relationship with Mercedes-Benz. He also supported the early development of the Zonda.

Sadly, Fangio passed away four years before the completion of Pagani's first work, but his legacy remains, in one of the most sought-after collector's models in the world.

The unparalleled attention to detail and pursuit of perfection meant that it took Pagani seven years to complete the first Zonda C12 - an incredible amount of time considering the speed at which super sports cars are developed and the fact that this project was a purely private endeavour.

When the Zonda C12 was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 1999, it immediately impressed journalists. But no-one had any idea what would become of the relatively unknown company Pagani Automobili, which turned the design of super sports cars into an art form without neglecting the single-minded engineering skill behind its products.

The Zonda evolved from the C12 with its Mercedes-Benz 6.0-litre V-12 engine producing 444 hp to the extravagant HP Barchetta with the now legendary AMG-tuned 7.3-litre V-12 engine producing 789 hp, while the kerb weight always remained under a remarkable 1,300 kg.

Pagani Automobili's ability to produce unique cars tailored to the exact wishes of its customers is unrivalled outside of Modena, and so a small series of Zondas with the specification '760' was eventually created.

Every single one of these "760" Zondas is unique and is therefore one of the very special Zondas to have left the factory in San Cesario sul Panaro. They all feature the most modern version of the Zonda chassis with a Carbo-Titanium monocoque, a material developed by Pagani that combines titanium and carbon fibre to benefit from the technical properties of both materials.

In addition to the chassis, all "760" Zondas have an engine with an increased power output of 760 hp, which equals the performance figures of the Zonda R pure racing car.

The "Diamante Verde" 1 of 1

The Diamante Verde, named after the car's unique livery, is one of Horacio Pagani's most extraordinary creations.

Factory built as a "one off" to 760 specification and not as an aftermarket conversion, as well as a specification that is unique through and through, making this one of the most collectible Zondas ever built.

The Diamante Verde, which was completed in 2017 and features a Carbo-Titan chassis, is equipped with the Mercedes-AMG 7.3-litre V12 engine, which develops its full power of 760 hp at just over 8,000 rpm. The incredible engine noise of the AMG V-12 engine is unique to the Zonda, thanks in part to the beautifully sculpted and ceramic-coated exhaust manifolds, which feed into four blue silencers from MHG, before terminating in the Pagani trademark four exhaust pipes within a circle.

Another special feature of this car is the bonnet, which was originally designed for the Zonda 760 LM. The front wheel arches are also wider.

A unique process was used to paint this car, which was not used in this form on any other Pagani.

One of the special aspects of driving without the roof is being able to hear the wonderful intake sound of the monstrous V-12 drawing air through the air boxes connected to the cinque-style snorkel, just a few centimetres from the occupants.

With just 700 kilometres on the clock and only one previous owner since delivery, the vehicle on offer here is in absolutely new condition.

Pagani's unrivalled reputation for attention to detail is underpinned with the Diamante Verde, with a huge number of non-standard features on this Zonda.

The Diamante Verde is undoubtedly one of the finest examples ever to leave the factory and represents one of the most desirable Zonda specifications.

This is a unique opportunity for any collector to own one of the last Zondas produced, keeping in mind that the appearance of a Zonda on the open market is extremely rare.
