One to Buy: Original & Unmodified two owner 2003 Pagani C12 Zonda S 7.3 Coupe
/ Ben Tyer
Having initially fitted a 6-litre Mercedes-Benz engine to the original Zonda launched in 1999, Pagani switched to a 7-litre unit during the year 2000. This was followed two years later by the 7.3-litre motor that went on to power all subsequent road-going iterations of the C12 theme.
In total, just 17 customer copies of the 7.3-litre Zonda were built in S Coupe trim between 2002 and 2005. Only around half a dozen are thought to remain undamaged and in their original delivery configuration, one of which is currently on offer with Rory Henderson in South West London.
Delivered in March 2003, chassis 31 is one of the eight Zonda S 7.3 Coupes manufactured in right-hand drive. Like Pagani’s prototype for this run of cars, the first owner opted for a colour scheme that comprised Zonda Blue paint over duo-tone Blue and Beige leather with Blue carpeting.
Interestingly, as part of the purchase deal with Pagani, the first owner agreed his car would be made available for promotional duty. Accordingly, following first registration in October 2003, chassis 31 went on to appear in CAR and EVO magazines.
During February 2011, chassis 31 was sold direct to its second custodian who has retained the bright blue Zonda ever since. Today, the odometer shows 49,634km, some of which was accumulated by its owners on Pagani’s factory organised European tours.
In April 2017 the fuel tank was replaced with an official Pagani item, the life of which will expire next year. The car is accompanied by a fully documented service history with the most recent maintenance having been carried out by Pagani UK in January 2024.
Chassis 31 is accompanied by its original luggage, suit carrier, car cover, tool kit, service book, owner’s manual and a history file along with a set of 19-inch OZ Superleggera wheels which were purchased owing to the difficulty of getting tyres for the original 18-inch set which remain with the car.
